Metsä Fibre launches change negotiations at Joutseno pulp mill

Metsä Fibre will initiate change negotiations at its Joutseno pulp mill in Finland due to the ongoing uncertainty in the global pulp market. The negotiations concern the possibility of temporary layoffs of up to 90 days and involve the entire workforce at the site, which totals approximately 170 employees.

According to the company, the discussions are being launched as a precautionary measure in response to the current market conditions affecting pulp demand. Metsä Fibre indicated that the final outcome of the negotiations will depend on how the market situation develops.

The Joutseno mill is one of the pulp production sites operated by Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, and supplies market pulp to international customers in sectors such as paper, board and tissue manufacturing. The move reflects the broader volatility currently affecting the global pulp market, particularly linked to demand fluctuations in key export regions.
