Kruger earns EcoVadis Gold with 86/100 sustainability score

Kruger’s EcoVadis Gold recognition for 2026.

Kruger received the 2026 EcoVadis Gold Medal after achieving a sustainability score of 86 out of 100, five points higher than in 2025. The result placed the company in the 98th percentile, among the top 2% of organisations assessed worldwide over the preceding twelve months.

The score was Kruger’s highest to date. Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Éric Ashby credited employees’ continuing work to improve operations, resource management and collaboration, connecting those efforts with business resilience and sustainable prosperity.

The improvement reflected progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency, expanding recycled material use, and managing water and waste responsibly.

Climate data and responsible fibre sourcing

During the year, Kruger expanded Scope 3 emissions accounting and strengthened the collection and reporting of sustainability data to better understand environmental and social impacts across its value chain.

Its initiatives included improving the detail and quality of organisation-wide sustainability information, committing to develop a Science Based Targets initiative target for the Packaging division, and extending FSC certification to additional operating sites.

The company also continued to strengthen procurement, risk management and sustainability practices across its operations and supply chain. Its alignment with recognised sustainability and human rights standards includes membership of the United Nations Global Compact.

EcoVadis assesses companies in four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Founded in Montréal in 1904, Kruger is a privately held family company with approximately 6,000 employees. Its businesses include tissue, 100% recycled containerboard, corrugated packaging, pulp and paper, renewable energy, and paper and paperboard recycling. Its facilities are located in several Canadian provinces and US states.
