Among the most noteworthy projects one retrofit carried out on rewinding machine for tissue producer, in South Korea.
Almost 50 years of history carried forward with dedication and passion

The success of these projects is the result of close collaboration between us and clients. This synergistic approach allowed us to thoroughly analyze existing issues and develop customized solutions capable of achieving the desired improvements. In particular, for the South Korean client, the rewinder had several critical issues. The counter-blades, mounted on a single shaft, limited production speed, prolonged the time required for format changes and made replacing the counter-blades a complex and time-consuming operation, taking several hours. Thanks to our intervention, these challenges were overcome, optimizing the entire production process. These issues created a true “bottleneck” for production, negatively impacting efficiency and operational timing. To solve such problems, HELIOS SLITTING implemented a comprehensive intervention, replacing the cutting area entirely with a state-of-the-art system equipped with motorized counter-blades, each operated by an independent motor. The solution, named FAST MAN, marked a turning point for the client. Thanks to this innovative system, both the blade and counter-blade can move synchronously.
Additionally, through an intuitive touch screen panel, the operator can precisely set cutting measurements, achieving greater simplicity and accuracy in blade positioning.
The benefits of this retrofit were immediate and measurable. The rewinder experienced a significant efficiency boost due to:
- Reduced cutting format change times, allowing quicker transitions between configurations.
- Fewer positioning errors, made possible by direct measurement visualization on the touch screen panel.
- Increased blade life, ensured by easier and more precise knife adjustments, now limited to just a few simple steps.

Furthermore, this solution significantly streamlined and accelerated maintenance activities, improved production speeds and minimized machine downtime caused by errors or malfunctions.
FAST MAN not only removed productivity obstacles but also prepared the system to successfully face the modern industry’s challenges. All of this was carried out on-site at the client’s premises by Helios’ technicians and software manager, who oversaw every aspect from assembly to commissioning. This project not only provided the client with an opportunity to increase their production capacity, but it also represented a valuable chance for Helios to enhance its expertise and ability to meet increasingly demanding requirements. Today, the client has experienced such a significant increase in productivity that they achieved a short payback period. This success has already inspired the client to replicate the solution on other systems.
