Toscotec announced a new turnkey project for GrandBay Group, involving a PM2 tissue line at the Blue Tissue mill in Apizaco, Mexico. The supplier will deliver an AHEAD 2.2 tissue machine, with start-up scheduled for the first half of 2027.
The repeat order represents the third major installation between the companies in five years. It follows tissue plant deliveries to GrandBay subsidiaries Papelera Internacional in Guatemala and Papeles Nacionales in Colombia, extending their technology partnership in Latin America.
The new AHEAD 2.2 machine will have a sheet width of 2,750 mm and a production capacity of up to 30,000 tonnes per year. Designed for high-speed production of premium toilet tissue and kitchen towel paper, the line forms part of GrandBay’s expansion strategy in the region.
The project is designed to optimise water, fibre and energy consumption, combining production efficiency with environmental performance.
Complete turnkey scope
The supply includes a complete turnkey plant and a stock preparation system designed to achieve the required quality of the finished tissue product.
The machine will incorporate TT NextPress shoe press technology, a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer and high-efficiency TT Hoods. This configuration is designed to maximise dewatering efficiency and increase post-press dryness while preserving paper bulk.
Toscotec will also supply its upgraded TT Brain distributed control system (DCS), a full electrification system, and erection and service support.
The company said the latest GrandBay order further strengthened its position as a tissue technology provider in Latin America.
“With four tissue machines sold in Mexico in just five years, the company is now a leader in the region. This third collaboration with GrandBay Group reinforces our position as the partner of choice for high-performance tissue production in Latin America, and we are happy to deliver a solution that maximises production speed and sustainability, ensuring Blue Tissue remains at the forefront of the market”, said Gabriele Romanini, Sales Manager at Toscotec.
