More than 600 people took part in the Open Day organised by Cartiere Carrara on Saturday, September 19, at the company’s plants in Capannori, Italy.
The day was dedicated to employees and their families, who had the opportunity to enter the facilities where their relatives work every day and see at close quarters how tissue paper is made and how the different stages of the production process are carried out.
Guided tours of the plants were organised throughout the day. Cartiere Carrara personnel accompanied the visitors and explained the main production activities and the operation of the equipment.
Paper traditions for younger visitors
Activities and workshops were also organised for children, in cooperation with the Paper Museum of Pescia and the master papermakers of Impresa Magnani Pescia. The initiative offered participants an opportunity to discover the traditional craft of handmade paper and to approach, through direct experience, a practice deeply rooted in the local area.
An area devoted to welcoming guests and spending time together was also set up at the Rogio plant, where employees and their families gathered during the day.
The Open Day was above all an occasion to share an important part of the everyday working life of Cartiere Carrara’s people with their families and to present the company through its sites, its work and the people who contribute to it each day.

It means sharing what we do every day and offering a close-up view of a company built on people, expertise, technology and passion. The participation of more than 600 people was the finest sign of the success of this day,” said Mario Carrara, Vice President of Cartiere Carrara.
