Tissue paper roll handling requires both precision and protection. Tissue rolls typically have large diameters and low paper grammage, making them prone to external damage and difficult to handle with conventional paper handling equipment.
Forklift attachments must therefore distribute pressure evenly across the roll surface to prevent deformation, external damage and out-of-roundness.
Built on decades of field experience and close cooperation with mills and converters worldwide, Bolzoni Group has developed a complete range of clamps specifically for tissue, designed to protect the product, streamline operations and meet the demands of mill and warehouse logistics.
Designed and dedicated clamp
Under the AURAMO brand, Bolzoni Group has developed a dedicated tissue roll clamp engineered to combine gentle handling with high operational efficiency. As the European brand leader in paper roll handling attachments, Auramo offers a complete range of robust, purpose-designed tissue paper clamps with capacities from 1,500 to 6,000 kg and standard roll diameters up to 2,700 mm.
The AR-RT series stands out for its fast and accurate rotation, and operator-friendly design. Key features include a smooth 180-degree rotation system with hydraulic cushioning in the vertical end positions to minimize edge damage during upright handling.
Its pivoting arm geometry, available with short or long arms, adapts effectively to a wide range of roll diameters, while the rounded arm profiles help reduce the risk of accidental marking during maneuvering. Thanks to its combination of stability, speed and protection, the AR-RT series ensures damage-free performance in mills, converting lines and warehouse environments.
Advanced pad geometry
Unlike other paper grades, tissue rolls often reach very large diameters and are soft and highly deformable. As a result, one of the main risks during handling is applying excessive clamping pressure on the outer roll layers.
In fact, in the case of reduced contact surface, pressure would concentrate along the pad edges causing localized marking, and possibly leading to out-of-roundness, even within a single handling cycle.

Auramo’s tissue handling solutions address this issue through a specialized contact pad design that ensures a secure grip while preventing roll damage.
AURAMO’s dedicated tissue-contact pads feature an oversized, rubber-faced design that maximizes the contact area and reduces surface pressure. For extremely soft rolls, the upper and lower pad edges can be strongly chamfered to prevent them from cutting into the paper.
The range includes single-, triple- and convex-radius profiles, all equipped with high-friction rubber facings to smoothly conform the pad around the roll, ensuring optimal grip.
The thin pad and arm profile improve knifing capability when working between tightly stacked or bilged rolls, supported by rounded, edge-safe finishes and a steering front edge for easier entry.
For long-term durability and consistent alignment, the short-arm pad design incorporates wear strips for floor-level applications, while shielded hinges and springs maintain proper pad positioning over time.
Automated handling
As automation becomes a strategic priority for mills, warehouses and converters, material-handling attachments must evolve to work seamlessly within fully digitalized environments. Bolzoni Group is heavily investing in this transition, developing intelligent, automation-ready solutions designed for both traditional forklifts and next-generation Automated Guided Vehicles.

Within this framework, the company has engineered tissue paper roll clamps optimized for AGV use, featuring precise 180-degree rotation, predictable motion profiles and interfaces tailored for automated control systems.
Developed in close cooperation with AGV manufacturers, these clamps combine mechanical robustness with the reliability and repeatability required in autonomous workflows, ensuring safe, gentle and fully automated tissue roll handling around the clock.
Optimized clamping force
Excessive clamping force is one of the most common causes of paper and tissue roll out-of-roundness damage. The varying paper roll hardness, weights, and diameters, plus the high value of the rolls themselves, are all factors requiring extensive control of clamping force by the operator.
To support the operator in the selection of the correct clamping force, we strongly recommend the use of FORCE MATIC, our automatic clamping force control system. This mechanical calculator can sense the load weight and continuously adjust the clamping pressure measured in the lifting and tilting cylinders.
Worldwide support
Thanks to the far-reaching service and support network, Bolzoni Group is strongly committed to providing its customers with high-quality service support before, during and after the purchase. When maintenance is required, the global service network is available, with equipped workshops, large spare parts storage and, above all, highly skilled sales engineers, and paramount after-sales service.
