Valmet introduced Bioneer press roll covers, a new solution designed to support circularity by reducing reliance on fossil-based raw materials. The roll covers are manufactured using recycled, renewable and bio-based inputs, enabling both Valmet and its customers to lower the climate impact of press section components without compromising performance.
The Bioneer roll covers are suitable for a wide range of press and suction roll applications on board, paper, tissue and pulp drying machines. According to Valmet, the new materials are integrated while maintaining durability, wear resistance and dewatering efficiency at the levels required in demanding industrial operations.

First press roll covers with life cycle assessment data
Valmet stated that the Bioneer press roll covers are the first roll covers on the market to be supported by product-specific life cycle assessment (LCA) data. This approach is intended to provide customers with transparent and credible information on the climate impact of the products they select.
As an example, the Valmet Press Roll Cover PF Bioneer delivers up to 12.2% lower cradle-to-gate CO₂ emissions compared with standard alternatives. The reduction is achieved through the use of REDcert²-certified renewable and recycled materials, applied via a mass balance approach.
