ST Group, a leading North American manufacturer of away-from-home tissue parent rolls, has acquired a tissue paper mill in Barnwell County, South Carolina, previously owned by Cascades Inc.
The acquisition, finalized through the newly formed subsidiary Barnwell Tissue Solutions, marks the ST Group’s third tissue production facility and increases the company’s total annual production capacity to 220,000 tons. This expansion further strengthens ST’s position as a premier supplier of high-quality parent rolls for bathroom tissue, paper towels, and napkins across North America.
The Barnwell mill is equipped with a 110-inch Valmet hybrid QRT/DCT tissue machine installed in 2016, offering an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons. The facility also includes a 40,000-ton-per-year recycled fiber deinking plant, enabling the production of both virgin and recycled tissue. The 300,000-square-foot site provides warehouse space and allows for future expansion.
With this acquisition, the ST Group of Companies reinforces its role as the largest parent roll marketer in the United States, supplying integrated and independent converters operating in the away-from-home tissue industry.
